Using Real-Time Data to Drive Student Retention and Completion
ASAP|ACE is a successful, evidence-based degree completion initiative that improves retention and graduation rates, particularly for low-income and historically underserved students, through integrated support services, financial resources, and data-driven performance monitoring. Initially launched at CUNY in 2007, the program has since been replicated in seven states and is now serving over 4,200 SUNY students across 25 partner campuses.
Axim is partnering with SUNY to establish a streamlined data collection system and online dashboard for ASAP|ACE, improving data accessibility and analysis across campuses and the SUNY Office of Student Success. Standardized APIs and data integrations will ensure seamless transmission of student academic and engagement data to a centralized database. The system will allow real-time queries and insights to inform decision-making and program improvements, while streamlining data aggregation and reporting for SUNY’s Office of Student Success. By unifying data infrastructure, the project will enhance the impact of ASAP|ACE across the SUNY system, ultimately improving student success and retention.
This project will support the goal of increasing SUNY ASAP|ACE enrollment to 10,000 students and will lay the foundation for scaling the program system-wide, expanding its reach within the largest higher education network in the nation, which serves 1.4 million students across 64 campuses. It will also develop a community of practice for campus staff on data-driven program management and pilot AI initiatives for student advisement, with a planned launch in spring 2026.
