Integrating Data to Catalyze Novel Higher Ed/K-12 Partnership Models
High school students participating in dual enrollment programs like College Credit Plus (CCP) are twice as likely to earn a degree compared to their peers. However, many students who are deemed "not college ready" by state standards miss out on these opportunities, despite being those who could potentially benefit the most. To address this gap, Lorain County Community College (LCCC) launched the Bridges to Success program. This initiative helps students without CCP credits or clear post-high school plans explore career pathways that lead to industry-recognized credentials and in-demand careers, with guidance from LCCC faculty and industry partners.
LCCC is expanding Bridges to Success to include 10+ additional partner school districts in their region. To support this scaling, LCCC has partnered with Axim to develop strategies for data collection and analysis, IT platforms, and opportunities for improvement. Specifically, LCCC has developed and launched a comprehensive dashboard integrating data on students from high school through college graduation and beyond. It will inform decision-making by providing insights into student outcomes, as well as enabling analysis of trends and success rates. The dashboard can disaggregate data by factors such as graduation year, demographics, and program type, providing LCCC and its high school partners with insights on where to focus its efforts and ensuring that all students have equitable access to college programs and opportunities for success.
Given the complexity of obtaining agreements for this level of data sharing and transparency, the dashboard could become a national best practice. This project examines how data and analytics can help institutions scale effective dual enrollment programs to underserved populations, ultimately strengthening student success.
